Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Wednesday charged the newly sworn in Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Esueme Dan-Kikile and two Special Advisers to generate sound ideas that would further consolidate on the achievements of the government.
In line with Government’s effort at re-positioning the machinery of government at all levels for more optimal implementation of the Restoration agenda and with greater loyalty and commitment to service, the following political appointees, including the Hon. Ebiketin Diongoli, have been relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has inaugurated a 12 Member Executive Council of the State Elders Consultative Forum, with a mandate to advise the Government on the diversification of the State’s economy.
Governor Dickson, who gave the charge during the inauguration of the council in Government House, Yenagoa, said the move became imperative, because of the drop in federal allocation, which has hampered the spate of developmental projects in the State.
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson has called on all tiers of Government in the country to declare a state of emergency on education, with a view to achieving sustainable national development. The Governor, who made the call when participants of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Course 37, Kuru, Jos in Plateau State, visited him in Yenagoa, identified lack of political will on the part of successive governments to invest appropriately in the sector, as the bane for true educational advancement in the country.
President Jonathan made the acknowledgement at the weekend during the funeral service in honour of late Oronto Douglas at the St Peter's Anglican Church in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital.
According to him, late Oronto Douglas introduced intellectual activism to the Niger Delta struggle for economic inclusiveness, noting that, he was articulate, an academic icon, idealist, proactive, strategic, courageous, exclusively humanitarian and never retracts, once committed to a cause he believes in.
Governor Dickson gave the assurance during his monthly interactive session with PDP members at the party’s secretariat in Yenagoa, the state capital.
He noted that, the party had been running the affairs of the country for 16 consecutive years, assuring that PDP remains the only party that is well co-ordinated and focused to deliver the dividends of democracy in the State.
Bayelsa State Government has announced a 20 per cent reduction in the personal income tax of its workers just as it presented an official car to the state chairman of the Trade Union Congress in fulfilment of an earlier promise.
Governor Seriake Dickson who made the announcement on Friday during the 2015 May Day celebrations in Yenagoa, described the tax cut as one of the means to appreciate the understanding and contributions of the state workers to the achievements of his administration.
The ministry was created alongside other ministries within the state service structure shortly after the state was created out of the old Rivers State in 1996.It has had over six commissioners under different administrations since it was established.
The state has, since the ministry was created, evolved a strategy to lift its agricultural sector from the rudimentary stage to a commercial driven sector with structures that will ensure community participation and global best practices on the identified agro projects.
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry seriake Dickson has felicitated with the Shehu of Borno and Chancellor of the State owned Niger Delta University, Alhaji Abubarkar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi over his conferment with a Doctorate degree by the institution at its fourth convocation ceremony.

Henry Seriake Dickson, accompanied by the Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the State, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff, Senators-elect Ben Murray Bruce, Evangelist Foster Ogola and other senior citizens of the state, visited the family of environmental and human rights activist, Late Oronto Douglas in Abuja.
