GOV DICKSON SAYS ANCOPSS IS KEY TO STABILIZING THE FALLING STANDARD OF EDUCATION IN THE COUNTRY

Bayelsa State governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has assured the Association of Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools [ANCOPSS] of his administration’s commitment to turn around the fortunes of the present and future generation of children of the state, through quality education.

Governor Seriake Dickson, who gave the assurance when he played host to the National Executive Committee of ANCOPSS at Government House, Yenagoa, disclosed that his administration has initiated a number of projects programmes towards achieving the administration’s objectives in the sector.

Describing ANCOPSS, as key to stabilising the falling standard of education in the country, Governor Dickson added that, the secondary school level is the most critical in the education sub-sector.

He noted with dismay, the prevailing trend, where public schools that have produced prominent members of the society, that should have been preserved, are left to wither.

He averred that not everybody needs a university degree, but with a good secondary school background, one can be useful to himself and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economy.

“Let me assure that our commitment to education is undiminished, our determination to turn around the fortunes of our children and the future generations of our people remains on course”

“Working with you in some of these areas such as curriculum, teachers training and how to get teachers to be more professional, dedicated and disciplined are things we want to partner with you”

‘I look forward to working with you closely to address what is the most challenging problems of our time. A country that gets its education right will overcome most of its challenges’

Governor Seriake Dickson, who commended ANCOPSS for holding its meeting in Yenagoa, promised that, the state government will contribute to the request by ANCOPSS to support its national secretariat project in Abuja.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the National President of ANCOPSS, Dr. Fatima Abdulrahman commended Governor Seriake Dickson for his administration’s giant strides in the education sub-sector, adding that the association is proud to identify with his achievements.
