Mission

The Ministry of Justice will provide a fair and equitable system of justice that protects the rights of all individuals and that is responsive to the community's needs for a safe and ordered society. 

The Ministry will: 
  • Develop public confidence in the justice system
  • Ensure public access to an efficient, fair and cost-effective system for resolving disputes
  • Make available, with community participation, a range of programs to reduce crime
  • Make available timely and objective advice and information on justice and legal matters
Goals

  • Strengthen democracy, rights and responsibilities
  • Deliver fair and simple routes to civil and family justice
  • Protect the public and reduce re-offending
  • Ensure a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public
Policy

The Ministry of Justice will ensure the coordination and effectiveness of criminal and civil justice policies throughout Bayelsa. The Ministry will promote respect for rights and freedoms, the rule of law and the Constitution and an awareness of individual responsibilities and civil obligations.
