NDU Protest: Govt Condemns Attempt by Cultist, Hoodlum to Disarm Security Operatives in Amassoma

The Bayelsa State Government has condemned in strong terms the attempt by cultists and hoodlums to disarm security agents deployed to keep the peace in Amassoma, the host community of the Niger Delta University on Tuesday.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, said in a statement a Tuesday that security operatives had a right to self protection when they come under attack in the discharge of their lawful responsibilities.

The statement called on parents to cooperate and accord the deserved respect to security operatives doing their job in the state.

He called on community leaders to prevail on their youths to stop believing in the potency òf charms which emboldens them to launch attack on operatives.

Soriwei said that the Goverment also condemned the reprehensible attack and vandalization of the Amassoma Police Station by the armed hoodlums.

He said p, “Government condemns in very strong terms the attempt by some hoodlums and cultists to hijack arms from security operatives

“It should be noted that security operatives have a right to self protection if they come under attack in the process of discharging their lawful duty of prospecting society and maintaining law and order.

“Government wishes to call on all parents and guardians to respect security operatives who are doing their job to protect us”

He called on community leaders to prevail on their youths to top believing in the potency òf charms which emboldens them to launch attack on operatives.

Government also condemned the reprehensible attack and vandalization of the Amassoma Police Station by the armed hoodlums.
